About Me

Hi, I’m Robin Decloedt and I live in Bruges, Belgium. I started my career in 2018 as a junior network engineer. I’ve been setting up small networks, firewalls, and Wi-Fi deployments. I quickly learned a thing or two about networking and network security (FortiGate). I didn’t know much about Wi-Fi yet, but still, I was being trained under the wings of my manager Nicolas, who made sure I didn’t mess things up.
A lot of times, we were trying to fix the thing that can hardly be fixed without redesign – legacy Meru/Fortinet SCA Wi-Fi. Luckily, my manager managed to bring in Extreme Networks as a new brand which elevated the quality of our wireless deployments.
At that time though, I became more invested in “the wired side” and switched jobs in search of a greater challenge, more complex networks including datacenter environments. I wasn’t doing much wireless design anymore at my current employer but lately, I got struck by a wireless lightning bolt after attending a stadium deployment bootcamp. I felt like this is what I want to do, and the wireless design is the fun part.
I got myself the CWNA study guide, read it through in one piece, and nailed the exam after 10 days. I enjoyed it so much that I set myself a new goal – becoming a Certified Wireless Network Expert (CWNE).
Welcome to RobinWifi, my blog where I document everything I’m learning as I work toward CWNE. I believe that the best way to truly grasp complex topics is by explaining them. That’s why I started this blog—to summarize my notes, reflect on what I’m learning, and hopefully, help others along the way.
While the blog is primarily about my studies, you might also come across some of my real-world experiences, like design and deployment challenges or troubleshooting complex networks.
When I’m not immersed in the world of Wi-Fi, you’ll likely find me cheering on my favorite football team (Cercle Brugge). For me, this blog isn’t just about reaching CWNE—it’s about the continuous learning process. Even after achieving that certification, I plan to keep challenging myself with new problems and expanding my knowledge. Wi-Fi is continuously evolving, and I want to stay on the cutting edge.
If you’re passionate about Wi-Fi, networking, or just curious to learn more, I’d love for you to follow along or reach out. Let’s grow and learn together!
Lastly, if you’re curious to know more about me, I stumbled upon my old blog from my 2018 internship in Uganda while setting up this site – feel free to check it out too!
